Being somewhat old school, I would like a concise book that lists all the built in sp's, what it's for, the syntax, and maybe an example or two. Emphasis on concise a la a "Nutshell" book. (ps: I know this is in BOL, like I said I'm old school).

Don't believe there is one just posted on web sites like this.

Thanks, good link. But I meant the system sp's like sp_help, etc. These are described at length in many books; I'm looking for a concise guide.

I haven't previewed Randy Dyess' e-book, Transact SQL Language Reference Guide, but I believe that was one of his goals... to compile all the disparate information into one place. You can find it at:
There's a try before you buy option.

Thanks for the reference to the Dyess ebook. It is not concise, by any means, but looks excellent otherwise. Maybe there is an opportunity to create the guide I want. I wonder why there isn't a Nutshell book? MS being obtuse maybe.
Thanks again,

Perhaps no one has proposed that idea to O'Reilly, who publishes the Nutshell series. They have the SQL in a Nutshell book, but they don't have another database related Nutshell book it would seem.
