At today's staff meeting, they mentioned that they were experimenting with pair programming. I'd never heard of it before, and I was wondering if anyone had ever tried it.

I haven't, but I've seen it. The SQL Prompt team does this.
I also saw some of this during my last week in the UK. It's interesting. Feels slow, but the conversations as they go show they're thinking and evaluating the code choices as the writing takes place. I think this can prevent some issues, but like many things, it's strange to get started.
I'd like to try it sometime.
