This is the smallest unit where SQL Server stores data phically.

Server refer to each page to work with data.. Please refer to MS website or google SQL Server Architecture for understaing more.

what is a page file?

Since there is not such a thing as a "page file" I would assume you are referring to pagefile.sys file which is a memory swap area, the one you want to set up as 1.5 times the size of your physical memory.
