OS for Standard Edition

  • I'm looking to rebuild one of our SQL Server 2000 Servers with SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition.  I may want to use 2005 SE Clustering capability but was wondering if you still need to install Windows Advanced Server to enable the Clustering?

I was hoping to install Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and maybe use the Clustering capability in the future.

    Regards

    Carl

  • The answer is in the question - you can't cluster SQL server without clustering the operating system.

Can you cluster Windows 2003 standard edition? No.

    Hope this helps.
