Just blasted through my 2008 BI exams and very much want to get straight into the 2012 exams.
I am looking at the 5 exams and reckon I want to do the two MCSA (461,463) then the two MCSE exams (466,467) and then last and most challenging for me the 70-462.
Is this acceptable to get my MCSA and MCSE.
Reason for doing it out of sequence is that most of the 2008 BI stuff is still in my head before I forget it.
Cheers

What are your current certifications?
And from what I remember, it doesn't matter which order you sit the exams in, but if you do it in the order you are detailing, you wont be able to say you have MCSA or MCSE until you have done all 5 exams.

MCTS, MCITP SQL Server BI 2008
MCTS, MCITP SQL Server Database Developer 2008
MCTS, MCITP SQL Server BI 2005
So for me I am hoping to blast through the 4/5 required and suspect I will struggle on 462 as not strong on DBA side. Just wanted to make sure I was not ding something wrong in leaving one of the MCSA exams till last.

You could just go down the upgrade route then, doing exams 457 458 to get MCSA and then 460 to get MCSE Data Platform Business Intelligence.

Without wanting to start a BI vs Data Platform debate my bread and butter work is BI so thats the critical cert for me. The data platform is an added bonus that I really want to do this time as I do feel it is an area where I am lacking.
So ok to do the exams out of order then?

Sorry I should of said MCSE BI, 457 and 458 to upgrade to MCSA and then 460 to get MCSE BI.
Then you should just be able to do exam 459 at a later date to get MCSE Data Platform.

For the MCTS/MCITP/MCSA/MCSE level exams, you can write the exams in any order you you like, you get the certification once you've written all the required exams.

Many Thanks. It may appear to be a mad route I am taking but theres method in the madness.

When I wrote the SQL 2008 TS and ITP exams, I wrote the 2 exams for the ITP exams first, then wrote the TS ones a couple months later.

Many thanks.
All set now to read the training pack book and sit the 462 exam. After sitting the rest of the exams in quick succesion I think this one will take a lot of time (and be very rewarding)
Cheers
