Hi,
Has anyone managed to successfully install Oracle 11g R2 client on Win 2008 R2 64bit cluster running Sql2008 R2 & get Oracle to appear as an available Provider in SSMS ?
We have installed the Oracle 11g R2 64bit client ( full admin ) according to Oracle's instructions & as a test, we successfully configured a connection to our target server using Oracle Net Manager, but still no Oracle provider from within SSMS.
Also, we installed the Oracle 11g R2 32bit client ( full admin ) to a different Oracle home as a try, still nada in SSMS !.

With Sql Server 2008R2, I had to install the Oracle 64 bit 11GR2 client. A 32 bit client is a bit tricky and I haven't had the need for a linked server using an Oracle 32 bit (some People Soft applications (maybe all) require a 32 bit client).
I do know the 32 bit client has a dll that does NOT display as a driver for linked servers but never looked into this.
To create an odbc connection using a 32 bit Oracle Client you have to navigate to the 32 bit oracle client dll which is installed in 'program files (x86)' folder.
