I am getting this error : Operating system error 665(The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation) encountered.
Microsoft has this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2002606
But that resolves problems for SQL Server 2008 on Windows 2008, but I am encountering this problem on Windows 2008 R2 /SQL Server 2008 R2
Should I still go ahead and apply those patches ?
Anybody has had any experience on it ?

I would say no. Talk to MS. Patches are specific to versions and the R2 versions are completely separate versions.

First, I agree with Steve.
Second, to make easier for others to see what you were referencing in the MS KB.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as you described, SQL (LARGE snapshot) + win2008R2 sparse files, generating error 665.
Did you ever found a solution for that?

When is this occurring?
Are you running a DBCC or BAckup at that time?
