Replication is a very complex topic. There are numerous tuning options you have if it isn't keeping up and that is causing the tlog growth. Probably best to get a professional in to help you - you can FUBAR things pretty easily where replication is concerned.

Thanks for the suggestion but I work in a small shop and we can't afford consultants.

But you can afford screwing it up and losing days of productions?

I always wanted to say that :w00t:.

...and you did - hope that makes your day!!

Please keep your responses relevant to the posts. If you don’t have anything to offer, which you clearly don't, there is no need to reply.

I do have something to offer. In this thread I nailed the last nail in the coffin Syed previous posting life. Which has worked and he's already showing signs of improvement. This has been going on for days over too many threads and I'm sorry you got caught in the cross-fire.

Anyhow, my last comment is still valid. I always fight against the idea that we don't have time / money to do something right the first time, but blowing the budget 10 times over is alright 1 month later when you need to redo it.

Sorry if I offended you. I never meant to say you're incompetent if that's what you understood.

  • Sad but true that SOOOO many entities out there nickel and dime things - right up until they REALLY mess something up. Then they often wind up paying tremendously or worse losing tons of business (or the entire company, which I have seen happen more than once). Good consultants provide MARVELOUS ROI!! Even if it isn't a critical-outage prevention type of engagement there are a huge number of advantages to hiring an experienced professional. I routinely find and fixed things most people don't have any clue to even look for.
