  I tried to open a report's query from my Report Builder 2.0 in my Windows XP machine but got the following error :

  An error occurred while connection to data source 'xxxx'. Only the text-based query designer will be available.

  Then I clicked the "Details" button and got this message : A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be casued by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. [provider: Named Pipes Provider, error:0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)

  I am using SQL Server 2008

  i think its a credentials issue please verify did u have the proper login access to the the data resources..
