Hi,
I am debating to where to install SQL on a brand new machine. Should I do the install on the C drive or on a different one?
Half of my data servers have the install (and system databases) on C drive while the others ones have it on the D drive.
Any recommendations?

Don't install databases on the boot/system drive.
The exception to that is the case when you only have one drive. But you should have enough input to ensure you have multiple physical drives for your data files.
