Odd Error

  • Hello Everyone

I have ran into a rather odd error that I cannot find an explaination. This is the error:

    Msg 468, Level 16, State 9

Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "Latin1_General_BIN" and "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" in the equal to operation.

This is what is on the line in that the error is referring.

    create table #t(

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

    Andrew SQLDBA

  • You haven't really given enough information there, but my guess is that you have a collation conflict between tempdb and your current database.

try specifying the collation that matches your current database against any relevant char type columns in the temp table.

  • as mentioned by mister.magoo, your server collation is different to database collation. tempdb uses server collation. have a look at the collation in db properties.
