ODBC & Windows only authentication...

  • Is it possible to utilize AD authentication with ODBC?

    For example, let's say that I want my ODBC connection to connect to a SQL 2005 database as "domain/user" instead of "sql user" is that possible?

  • yes, you just want this in your connection string instead of UID and PWD

    Trusted_Connection=Yes

  • Do you know if there is anyway to specify which AD user and password to use?

    I suppose I just need to make sure the AD service account is logged in at the time the ODBC connection is utilized, but if you happen to know of another way to specify an AD service account via ODBC, that would be nice.

  • Thats always going to be a issue with NT ID. Best Practice is to create a SQL user for ODBC and specify it inside the .dsn file.
