Since the abbreviation is "nvarchar" I can see National VARying CHARacter. How did it become National CHARacter VARying? If that was the case shouldn't it be ncharvar? I would appreciate a review of this question.Cheers,

It is ISO standard as you can see in BOL:
The ISO synonyms for nvarchar are national char varying and national character varying.
I am glad that Microsoft sometimes follow some kind of standard, and sometimes tries to go beyond the existing standards 🙂

Another sloppy question :angry:. It should read "What is the ISO name ...", but as the correct answer to the question as it stands ("nvarchar") isn't one of the answer options (and the ISO name is) it is rather obvious that the omission of "ISO" was a mistake so I could easily choose the "right" incorrect answer and get the point. :hehe:

i d'ont understand...
I selected 'national character varying', told me is wrong and that the answer was ... 'national character varying' :blink:
