Good evening to all.
I use SSAS 2008 R2 and i did some cubes.
I built a dimension PRODUCT that contains 2 numeric attributes...PRICE WITH TAXES and PRICE WITHOUT TAXES
Both attributes are numeric (deci format in DW Database)
When i use Excel to query and navigate through the my cube, numeric attributes are displayed like string formats...
I have to format my PRICE WITH TAXES and PRICE WTIHOUT TAXES inside Excel.
What is the best practice to do to display that data RIGHT ALIGNED as numeric values with no manually operations ????
Before to build my dimension ..Do i have to do something in Data Source View of Cube Solution ???? and what ???
Or what else is it the best to do ????
aNY SUGGEST ??? Any useful link to read ??? Any examples ???
For me no problem to use Excel but final users are very exigent...grrrr.....:-)
Many thanks to all people read my post.
Ciao Maretix.

You should be able to set the format of each measure to a numberic format ("###.##" for instance). Take a look at : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175623.aspx

I believe the question concerns formatting a non-measures dimension. I would like to know how to do this as well.

Within the dimension, click on the attribute in question. What is the data type showing up in the NameColumn Source?

Hi guys.
Thanks for your kind reply.
Yes i'd like to know how to format a numeric attribute dimension and not format a numeric measure.
Sorry for my english...i created a misunderstanding,,,
I'd like to be able to display a numeric attribute of a dimension when i use Excel.
The field is a decimal type in SQLSERVER DW Table....
When i use that field as attribute of a dimension, i was not able to display as a numeric directly in Excel..
Regards in advance...

I'm also facing same issue while applying format under NameColumn . It's not allowing to change from WCHAR to Double... Also, if I use #,##0.00 in format string, nothing happens while browsing cube in excel / SSMS.
