My company is looking to upgrade to SQL2000 from SQL6.5. I am looking for a general feel about which OS should we be installing SQL2000 on. Issues of concern are obviously : stability, performance, security.

Win2K/SQL2K is a killer combination. Very solid in my experience. After all, Win2K is old technology, XP is almost here. Seriously, you'll be SO glad you went with Win2K - try to talk your server vendor into an upgrade deal for XP.

No XP server, there is .NET, however, in Beta 3 now. I'd use W2K. Can't even buy NT now.
