"Love of computers" may not be the only reason they, and other companies are not jumping onto the Cloud bandwagon right now. I think that many IT pros and managment as well are afraid of losing their jobs because of cloud computing. Granted that fact might be overexaggerated, and it might not be. There are lots of opinions on it, on either side. But it might be enough to scare some company managers away from it if they think their job is going to be down-sized by going to the cloud. Particularly, with the economy the way it is right now..:-D

Not really. Too many companies it makes sense not to export their core business because they lose control over the quality of service. The few services that we don't provide in-house have had multiple issues/downtimes that have cost us time/money/clients. These in hind-sight could have been prevented with our own staff/resources. Also there are regulations concerning the handling of data that may prevent "clouding". Plus do you want to lose your service when the feds seize the servers of your provider due to the actions of their other clients? Or not be able to connect due to holiday shopping traffic? Or argue with remote IT staff that are reading from scripts?

Like I said, there are two sides to the story and I don't come down on either at this point. RIF. Articles are everywhere on the Internet about both cases, you guys decide what side has merit. But I do think it is causing a bit of hesitancy on the side of management as a result. 😀
