Hi i am a developer in sql server. can any one suggest me what i shall learn next for bright career; pls suggest me

As it most of the time happens... it depends 😀

How much experience you have as a SQL Developer?

What's the focal point of your career?

My suggestion is to answer the two questions above to yourself 🙂

  • What areas of SQL are you strong with and where are your weaknesses? I suggest you evaluate that and then work on improving in your weaknesses.

  • I suggest that you work on your written English communication skills.

  • That isn't much of a poll....

Please try a search and see what comes up. I would suggest getting Microsoft Certified and that is what I'm doing after reading an excellent article by Mike McQuillan.

Still, search further and see what you feel suits you.

  • you can decide as to whether you want to focus on Development in SQL Server or move to some parts of Administration...

In development itself, you can get yourself acquainted with changes with the latest SQL Denali version(keep yourself updated...)..

    Hope I was help...

  • Hi i am a developer in sql server. can any one suggest me what i shall learn next for bright career

Actually, yes we can. 🙂 Post (or attach it if it's long) the piece of T-SQL that you are most proud of and we'll make some recommendations from there.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

Athough some folks have had a bit of fun at your expense (it's a normal IT response 🙂 ), I strongly suggest that the next step to your "bright career" is to actually respond to posts (like the one I made above) where people are actually trying to help. Even if you simply say "Thanks, but not what I was looking for" would be an improvement because two of the most sought after traits in the DBA world are...

#1 The ability and willingness to communicate effectively and...

#2 A very good sense of humor even if it turns out to be a dry sense of humor. 😉

I agree. I don't know why I found crainlee2's post so amusing, but I actually LOLed at my desk. Good thing I work with other crazy people so my outburst mainly went unnoticed. 😛
