Hi All-I'm new to the DBA role at my company and i've been tasked with maintaining our SQL 08. one of our biggest initiatives is to free up our SQL and i've been told to research RBS. I should note that most of our problem is attributed to our sharepoint ct dbs. im from a former sharepoint background as an admin so i understand the whole concept of blobs but i was looking for help/advice/guidance on RBS and any suggestions on how to free up my sql, rbs strategies, etc.,. thanks!

For me 'Remote BLOB Storage' was the first thing that popped up when I Bing'd RBS and SQL Server. But that's the extent of my knowledge on Sharepoint administration.

Top 3 hits I get are:
1) A Codeplex project[/url] for an API (with samples)
2) A Technet article
3) A whitepaper from Microsoft.
Have you tried this?

Yes, 'remote blob storage' is what i was referring to, my apologies. i've done some research into it, found the whitepapers from msft and whatnot. just hoping i could ping around and see if anyone on this board had experience with blob externalization from SQL onto SAN/NAS or other storage endpoints. thanks everyone!
