New Search Engine!

  • We hear you loud and clear! I just replaced the old search engine with a Google search. Let me know of any problems. I do see it's not spidering the forums fully and that will be fixed.

  • Brian,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'd given up up on searches of sqlservercentral, but now that I can google it's great.

  • I'd have to disagree slightly with Chris. It could be a bit better but it's a huge improvement.

The only problem with googling the site is that I don't think Google will do partial word matches. For instance, in the case of the stored procedure xp_fixeddrives if I can't remember the whole name it's hard to find it. A search on "xp_" produces one result.

This sort of ties in with the full text search on scripts. I have a terrible memory and when I know there is a way to do something it can be very tedious if I don't remember the name.

In the case of searching for a script I may not remember the name of the script but know that it uses xp_fixeddrives. Or I may just want an example of that procedure being used.

In the case where I am trying to remember the stored procedure that reads the error log I think it starts with sp_ms.... but it's very difficult to find things that way.
