Microsoft has released a new security tool which Microsoft states:
"UrlScan version 3.0 Beta is a security tool that restricts the types of HTTP requests that Internet Information Services (IIS) will process. By blocking specific HTTP requests, UrlScan helps prevent potentially harmful requests from being processed by web applications on the server."

Has anyone used version 2.0 and your thoughts on its usefulness?

URLScan was just about mandatory for IIS servers prior to 6.0 if they were exposed to the Internet. There is some usefulness for it in IIS 6.0 and above. However, most of the features are now built into 6.0. But things like hiding the server type, etc., can only be accomplished via URLScan.
