New instance in sql server 2008

  • Hi,

I am a newbie in SQL server.

I have implemented a microsoft 2008/Sql sever 2008 cluster configuration.

I have installed a default instance on node 1 togehter with the DTC.

I understand that if i want to create a new istance i need a new IP address , a new clustered disk and a new instance name. Basically i have to follow the same process again as in the first instance'.

My question is...do i have then to run the "add another node procedure", on the other cluster node again? I guess so..

And , do i have to implement a new dtsc service as well.?

Please advice and forget my English:-P

  • If you want to add another instance you run the setup.exe and go through the installation process again with another IP address etc. You do the install on the other node as well (add node). You only need one MSDTC
