I am installing SQL Server 2008R2 Standard. This is a non-clustered installation on Windows Server 2008.
I've read that ideally you should have a separate account for each service.
This may be a stupid question but do these accounts need to be an AD Domain account or can I create local Server accounts for each service.
If I can create the local accounts, what are the pros and cons?
thanks

Domain account is better.
Domain account is useful while taking backup to a shared folder, replication, log shipping, etc.

Why create a local account? If you are in a DR situation, you will need to recreate things instead of using the same account.
Use a domain account. No rights at all. Let the SQL installation program set the rights.
