I have a 2 node cluster with only 1 instance running on it in active/passive mode.
Now, my customer wants me to install another instance on the other node and make it active/active for both instance to fail over to each of the nodes.
Instance1 has SQL Server 2005+SP3. Instance 2 is also preferred for the same configuration.
The OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise-Service Pack1 and itβs a 64-bit operating system
Now, what are the prerequisites required to go ahead with the installation. I believe, a cluster group needs to be created along with storage disks and virtual IP addresses. I would seek from advice in this regard

You can either create an application\group or allow the installer to do this for you. You will also need shared disks, an IP address and a unique virtual network name

Can I get an official Microsoft link which describes these prerequisites?

yes, this link provides info.
Installing a 2nd failover instance requires exactly the same process and resources as installing the first, what is it you are unclear on?

Hi Perry,
Thanks for this piece of advice. I can take it forward from here.
