I have loaded all the files for SQL Server Developer, but cannot figure out what to run to install SQL Server 2005 on a new Windows 2003 server. I ran the logical program, you would think, setup.exe, but all that did was install MS Office 2003 web Components. Now what do I do or run ? Any assistance would be really appreciated

If you want to install SSRS then IIS6 must be installed and you click on details during installation to enable all Asp.net related features. You also need to make sure you copy all the files to your drive because SSRS must be installed in C drive. Try the setup in the server folder or try the auto run instead.

If you've got all the files from the DVD there should be two folders. 'Servers' and 'Tools'. Inside the Servers folder there should be a 'setup.exe'. Run that.

IIS is a Windows component so go to add remove program and click on Windows component, you need your Windows install CD. And your SQL Server files need to be copied to your local C drive.

Hi Gail
I should be so lucky to have that. I was handed a CD that says (in hand-writing) SQL Server 2005 Developer
It has a "setup" folder with a whole bunch of zip files, so I do not even know if what i was given is correct
Thanks

Something is not right because I have downloaded from employer's network drive and I have the same two folders so if it is SQL Sever 2005 developer there are two folders Server and Tools.

one is called
SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Developer_Edtn_2005_W32_X64_IA64_English_1_x64_MLF_X11-57880.EXE
and the other is called
SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Developer_Edtn_2005_W32_X64_IA64_English_2_x64_MLF_X11-57881.EXE

Hi Jim,
I've had files like this from MS download site (software assurance or whatever)
I think the 2nd file will be what is "Tools" on the install DVD, so it will have SQL server management studio etc
