Hello,
Thought I'd throw this out to see what the general feeling was regarding the new MS DBA tracks and hence, new certification titles?
Taking a look at the MS site for DBA certification, it appears the title "MCDBA" is being phased out for MSSQL2005 certification.
To me, the title "MCDBA" is more visual/meaningful/self explanatory to the IT business community and quickly conveys your job role/expertise to others vs "MCTS" or "MCITP" (ie: credentials on a business card).
Is it worth investing time/finances into a product that will give you a title that you will continually need to explain what it means? Why didn't MS keep "DBA" in the new cert titles ????
Any thoughts?
Many thanks. Jeff

Hey Jef,
Investing in this product should not be about the title, but more about the knowledge and skill acquired from studying and using the product.
By the way the MS new title scheme for MCDBA is (MCTIP "Database Developer or Administrator") + other specializations such as business intelligence and more.
So to sum it up, i think it makes a hell of a lot more sense to invest in these product (which is in demand) than the ones MS had prior to their new cert Paths.
