Hi ,
My sqlserver is running on the local system account. I want to add my local system account to the perform volume maintenance tasks to turn on instant file initialization. But the local system account is not showing there to add to the perform volume maintenance. There are other accounts like system,local service,network service,network. Is the system is local sytem or the local system account is the other one.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Vamsy

@Vamsy,
If your account is part of the Local Administrators group on Windows, it will have access to Instant File Initialization by default.
Read this article on how to configure Instant File Initialization. The local account should be listed when you try to add.
Perform Volume maintenance task properties
Add User or Group
Click Advanced
Click Find Now
Double click on the account that you want to add
Click Apply --> Ok

You don't need to add local system to that right - it is part of the local administrators group already and has that right by default.
