Need some advice on changing dbo

  • I'm looking for a little advise, we had a dba leave the company and she created multiple db's and sql jobs under her windows account. I've read so many different ways of changing the dbo that I would like to get a best practice on this.

Should I change the dbo to sa or another windows account?

If I change the sa password what will this effect?

    Thanks

We have SQL 2000 and 2005

  • The best thing to do is set up a service account that you use for that kind of thing.

  • Changing sa or windows account password has no impact on DB/job ownership.

It does not matter the DB is under sa or windows account. You may have to change the password whenever there is a need.
