Hi
It depends on how far you want to administer / know a SQL Server box.

When you buy the book, a softcopy comes along (a PDF file) but I don't know if you can buy it without buying the hard one.

This was a decent book for getting through the test. I also recommend the WROX series of books for a more-detailed source of information. Furthermore I suggest subscribing to sites such as SSC, Simple-Talk, SQLServerPedia, MSSQLTips, SQLTeam, and SQL-Server-Performance for their daily newsletters. Also seek out and RSS thos SQL-centric bloggers. It's always valuable to see what is going on in the real world, not just the textbooks. Life is definitely NOT a textbook situation. If possible, I strongly suggest joining the Professional Association for SQL Server (aka PASS) (it's free) and try to attend their annual summit. If you live near a local PASS chapter or SSUG try to attend a monthly meeting and get to know those SQL Professionals in your area.
