Have you migrated your Navision to SQL Server 2005 recently
Very recently i was, migrated his Navision server from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. Can you imagine what problem i was faced?
His users are unable to change their own password using Tools > Security > Password.
Checked with few more people who has migrated to SQL Server 2005 and surprised to find that everybody is having the same problem and they are solving the problem simply by assigning the dbowner role to their general users.
Dangerous. Don't you think?
Nisheel poddar was not satisfied and searched for solutions. What solutions we found you know?

I use Navision and am still on SQL Server 2000. I have always had the problem where I had to grant dbo to all users. I have complained to the vendor several times, but they said that is how the application is set up.
One thing to note is that all user security is set up through Navision where the users are assigned Roles. That role determines what functions each user can perform. Also, users can only access the database/server through the Navision application.
I'd be curious to know if you have had any other problems with upgrading to 2005, as I am planning for an upgrade in the near future.
Thanks
