Named Instance

    hi,

    I have a named instance on sql server 2000 like comp1\instance1.

    But i couldn't access the same instance from client side.

    Could you help me how to access the named instance?

    What errors are you getting when accessing the server from the client?

    Can you connect to the server from the server itself?

    most likely this is related to installing an EXPRESS version ..express does not allow remote connections by default, you must enable it using the Surface Area Configuration Manager:

    Thanks for the help guys.

    I set the named pipe setting and it has started working.....
