  • That's far off... but for once it's also her fault so she can't complain this time .

  • The nearest I came to chalk when I was young was when the teacher would throw it at me for not paying attention,  closely followed by the duster

Far away is close at hand in the images of elsewhere.

  • off-topic ?! couldn't have done better even if I'd tried...as different from the post that started this as chalk from cheese...

  • David - chalk it up as the reason why you're so smart and savvy today!

  • all this talk of chalk, paste and crayons has made me pretty hungry.... maybe I can draw up something... oh look ...it's my turn at the sand box... and yay ... the water station is after that... I think I'm having a kindergarten flashback... too bad steve jones has lost interest

  • GPetc...the only thing you're drawing is attention to yourself....

as for steve....I'm sure he has better things to do with his time - as should we all!(said in my best prim and propah school marmy voice....)

ps:I promise myself each morning not to get sucked into these posts and have had zero success so far....am going to try VERY HARD today....

  • and just gpf is fine ... the 2^192 is just a ball park number in scientific notation for my estimated number of computer errors I've created / caused in my life .. I used to increment them back in the day just after punch cards and card readers lost favour... for bbs's and things like trade wars and lord british ruled the CRTS'.. when ega and MCA were cherished and computer cases were not an offensive piece of hardware to be hidden under ones desk...

and that was the number I stopped counting...

  • heh .. i rhymed

  • good luck with keeping away... I've tried for 17 years to keep away... and still get dragged back into saving the day ...

  • I didn't know this site had turned into a chat... maybe some on us should get back to work (opening the door real big here ).

  • I think I can handle typing a few lines while perusing event logs and cross indexing macro event id's for my morning chores... an old back up server of mine went down while I was away   so I'm just waiting for the AD to clear out after my forcing its removal from the AD ... rechecking the logs to look for expected wackiness.... checking out some pop3 weirdness on the exchange server...(I'm betting multiple IPs and multiple nics are really bothering it)

update a few asp sql apps I rolled out this month... hope to rebuild that server on a nice old dual p3 with what looks like from here a nice scsi on board controller... add new MFD drivers to the clients for the new 45ppm colour machine we got in ... the sales guys like it... for promos, demos etc..

I think I put a good day in and to boot I was in an hour early... may even do a training session for one app I made... should time permit...

and still time for crayons, paste and chalk eating....

  • Wow, this does bring back memories. I used to run BBSes that ran the various incarnations of trade wars. Matter of fact, I broke into the industry writing Doors for Wildcat!, PC-Board, and RBBS systems. Then I started writing conversion programs for Wildcat! to product the user data files for PC-Board and RBBS doors. Then I did that with T.A.G. and Spitfire boards.

  • well maybe this will get us seniors parking at the next lan party...

  • I'll take the parking, but I still consider myself fairly young. Just barely on the other side of 30. When I broke in, I broke in young.

  • I as well the other side of 30, but I suspect somewhat ancient in the IT world, mind you they stopped teaching command prompts, and telnet in the highschools so we shouldnt be out of the running just yet.
