I'm still laughing at 'moo point' now that I know what it is.
My hovercraft is full of eels.

I like hepling people while learning myself doing it especially when the quizes tend to be chanllenging but couldn't care less what the outcome is.

The saying comes from the US Air Force. Of course, when you go in 30 days later, you get the same response. Meaning the person saying it can get their jollies screwing with you indefinitely but you've got no recourse because they were so nice about it.

GPF2^192 wins for the best post of the day!!!!!

I should have know it was the U.S. Air Force. We had a couple that stayed at our base and drew separate rations pay because the Army food was not up to Air force standards and we had (gasp) No golf course. In the Army they hoped you would come back sooner (why wait 30 days) so they could tell you no again and give you a chit to go cry on the Chaplin’s shoulder.

Sorry to come into this so late, I can only blame the timezones
How about a mini-MVP (Most Valued Poster) for the month?
Maybe Steve, Andy and Brian could send the winner to Disneyland or something

So is that when you'll start pumping out 200 posts/day or that was just a big joke ?

I'm sure I can whip up a quick Perl script using LWP to look for any new post that comes into being and automatically insert a post from me saying, "I'm not currently on the forums, but when I get back I'll look at your post and hopefully answer it. If not, Phill or Remi's automated agents will get to it."

I agree; post counts show a degree of dedication towards helping people, but i've seen a lot of good helpful posts from people with just a handful of posts; some posters only throw out a couple of solid posts about their pet issues, where others are more well rounded and try to help with damn near everything.
it'd be hard to point the finger and say that person posted the most helpful post of all time; too subjective to each individual's needs.
what i like about the forums is with such a high readership, there is bound to be someone who has already encountered the same problem posted, and is willing to help.

"or Remi's automated agents will get to it"
Now here's an idea . Would be a nice project to build...
July 12, 2005 at 8:27 am
Which project? Building the agents or the script?
July 12, 2005 at 8:31 am
Takes an agent to get the new messages... Then you have to create some sort of faq db that can figure out what is being asked and reply accordingly... that could take some time to wip out .

Does this mean LISP coming back in fashion to try and interpret the text?
