multiple login & logoffs when using XP for EM.

  • Hello all,

I have noticed on my managed SQLServers (7 & 2000) that when using my Enterprise manager on my XP machine i get multiple logins and logoffs on the servers i am manageing/monitoring. This is happening about every minute, sometimes a little more often. This is increasing my security logs on the monitored servers not to mention other overheads.

I have also noticed that i do not get this problem on a server until the SQL group that it is declared in is opened in EM. Once opened the Managed server continues to be logged into and off of every minute or so even if the group is closed down.

The only answer i can find is to close down EM completly and restart it.

This does not happen when running EM on WIN2000 or NT, all i see is a single login on each managed server.

    Any help/ideas would be great

  • could somebody tell me if the question is unclear? or has nobody else seen this problem?

  • Can u clear ur problem please

    This statement is unclear :

"when using my Enterprise manager on my XP machine i get multiple logins and logoffs on the servers "

what do u mean by multiple login logoffs?

  • sorry i'll try again,

in the NT security log of the 'managed' SQLServer my usercode (that is used to run EM under XP) can be seen logging on and off about every minute whilst i have enterprise manager (running under XP) connected to that server, once i stop EM on the xp machine the logons and logoffs stop on the managed server.

This does not happen if EM is running under WIN2000 or NT. Just a single logon is seen.

    I hope that is clearer.

    summary

EM - XP                Logons and offs seen every minute in the NT security log of the registered SQLServers.

EM - NT/Win2000   Single login seen in the NT security log of the registered SLQServers when EM is started

    Thanks,

    Pete
