Multi-Site AAG With Sync

    Just wondered what people's thoughts and experiences are of deploying a 2 node SQL AAG, with one VM each DC, in sync mode, in an active-active DC layout, with 1ms RTT and 1Gbps? Similar to a SAN based geo-cluster. HA and DR in a single tin.

    I'm trying to minimise license costs. Having the 2 node in DC1, with async to site 2 is double the license cost!!

    Have people used other solutions to the two node, perhaps like SIOS DataKeeper. I'm already aware of stuff like Zerto.

    1 ms latency is outstanding, if true. How far apart are your data centers?

    That cannot be considered a true disaster recovery datacentre, 500 miles would be more preferable

    How many sql server VMs do the 2 hosts service?

    Have you checked the sql server licensing guide?

    Sorry, I meant two VMs.

    I would really love to hear from any of you and your thoughts on the wisdom of running a 2VM SQL AAG, in sync mode, with a 1Gbps, 1ms latent, inter-site link between them.
