I am attempting to create a DTS export from SQL Server to text file. Under the Destination tab of the Transform Data Task Properties, if I click Define Columns the entire app crashes. I can only salvage an error signature:
App Name mmc.exe ver5.1.2600.2180
ModName msvcrt.dll ver7.0.2600.2180
I tried downloading the latest version to System32 directory, but nothing seems to prevent this occurance. Is this a known error?
Thank you much....

My immediate thoughts - are you on latest versions? Is it possible that the .dll has been corrupted? Are you doing all this on your own laptop/desktop, or are you using a full blooded server?
This sounds like a rare issue to me, which suggests either a bad copy of a library or perhaps hardware beginning to fail. but those are extreme suggestions, so it might be worthwhile to confirm your versions of op sys, ss2k, etc and ensure they are up to date. It could be that reloading the latest version may resolve the problem.

But, did it solve the problem?

Well, I do not have the disks to reinstall, so I think I will upgrade to 2005, but what you said made much sense - relating to other .dll anomalies I've experieced in my digital travels.
Thanks again........
