  • Few Days back you asked a similar question SQL Server Vs MySQL and now MS SQL Vs Oracle.

Database Technology (vendor) selection is very critical task. If you don’t understand participating technologies you can’t compare them.

I am not underestimating you (or your skills) but IMO if you don’t know it please don’t recommend it. Hiring a consultant would be a good idea.

  • Have to agree with Dev, get a multi skilled, experienced Consultant to advise on your companies needs.

There is never a "yes" or "no" answer upfront, they have to evaluate and assess your needs, vision and current infrastructure, pricing, budget etc... etc...

    as for

i wanted to recommend in my organization for oracle. please guide me for it.

..this is SQL Server Central, not Oracle Server Central, so, if we had to, we'd rather "guide" you to staying with Microsoft anyway 😉

  • You cant make a recommendation without the correct research. Asking on the a SQL Server forum how you can justify recommending Oracle to your business possibly isnt the way to go.

Without your full requirements, no one here is going to be able to recommend any product. My personal opinion is both are mature products with little between them. There are certain features that are unique to both which could swing the decision either way. Generally, the ROI is better with SQL Server.

Have to agree here since you don't know where to start.

Oracle is in general looked at as "more difficult", while SQL Server is regarded as "a bit easier".

SQL Server has the advantage that most of the development and administration can be done with one tool: SQL Server Management Studio, while Oracle requires more tools. SQL Server gives you an entire BI-stack out-of-the-box for free (if installed on the same server): SSIS, SSAS and SSRS.

(gee, it looks like I'm promoting SQL Server. On a SQL Server forum :w00t:)

  • Considering last three post, I would like to correct my initial suggestion. Please hire a technology independent consultant (like me). SSC is biased for SQL Server. 😀

  • I just asked here MSSQL server and Oracle which can be a more compatible databases with .net(Microsoft visual studio).

Most probably oracle is used with java technology.

I just asked here MSSQL server and Oracle which can be a more compatible databases with .net(Microsoft visual studio).

    Hmmm.

Visual Studio is developed by Microsoft.

    .NET is developed by Microsoft.

SQL Server is developed by Microsoft.

Oracle is developed by M... euh Oracle.

Which one would be more compatible with .NET?

    It doesn't take 3 guesses 😉
