I am having difficulty getting this information from MS Developer / Licensing / Pro support since they have moved forward to SQL 2005. I need to run MSSQL 2000 with access to 31GB of RAM. We are purchasing a 64 bit server with 32 GB of RAM. We are planning to purchasing SQL Enterprise Edition 2005 and downgrading to SQL 2000 (2000 is no longer sold) as well as 64 bit 2003 server. At one point Microsoft said that we could purchase 64 bit 2003 server and access all memory in SQL STANDARD edition. This DOES apply to 2005 SQL. But does it apply to 2000? Basically I am looking for the least expensive method of getting all of the memory ported to SQL 2000 on 2003 server.
