SQL 2017 Environment
I have a set of AOAG with FCI the secondary AOAG is on the DR server.
So 3 physical servers 2 in an active\passive FCI. The other is at the dr site. FCI is used for HA AOAG is used for DR.
The FCI is configured to use a clustered MSDTC on a shared disk
The app uses MSDTC to communicate with another db on a separate server.
Testing DR in the scenario FCI site is down, so servers in the FCI are powered off.
The DR AOAG is switch to the PRIMARY manually.
However the APP fails to start due to ERROR 8509 (Import of MSDTC transaction failed:)
The MSDTC it attempts to use is LOCAL.
The question is how is MSDTC supposed to be configured for DR in AOAG SQL 2017.

Don't cluster MSDTC. Configure MSDTC separately on each server.
