MSDE & SQL Server 2000

    Is it safe to operate MSDE & SQL 2K in parallel?

    What do you mean by "in parallel"?

    You can run MSDE and SQL 2K on the same machine at the same time.  At least one of them has to have an "instance" name.  They can not open the exact same databases.

    Thank you Kathi,

    I realized that (can't have the same database server name), when I tried to install SQL 2K. So I had to uninstall MSDE and installed SQL 2K.
