Good day
I have a question about MSDE installed on a WinXP pc. I installed the MSDE with the option SAPWD=''.
After setting the TCP/IP protocol, I am able to connect to the computer. (I use a cross cable between the pc and my laptop)
When I start the enterprice manager on my laptop and try to make the connection everything works fine until I try to logon to the database.
I tried useing SA / my own logon account / windows authentication but nothing works.
Every time i get the message that the user is not accepted.
I dont have the tools installed on the WinXP PC.
Does anyone have a idea what to do?

I suggest just installing the client tools on the WinXP PC so you can validate things are setup right.

MSDE installs with Windows Authentication enabled. You probably need to be an administrator on both machines.

To Log In to the new instance of MSDE using the sa account, ensure that the value of the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer\LoginMode
is 2
Hope this helps!
