Hello,
I'm a DBA last two years and I want to get some certifications. I'm debating which path should I take either MSDBA or MCITP. I like to know your view about those certifications and give me some advice.

I am also looking at it right now. Based on my readings, MCITP, according to MS, is the (new generation) premier certification targetting to focus on a specific MS technology e.g. SQL Server 2005 certification, where you can immediately get an exam via a shortest route to certifications being the first level is MSTS. I'm now on the process of getting the trainings necessary for MCTS then eventually MCITP. Maybe others should also shed light on wether to proceed to the old MSDBA route or MCITP.

I'd like some direction here as well. I have passed all the required exams for MCDBA, but my training budget has been eliminated so I'll have to self-train for an elective. Is it worth it, or should I direct myself toward the new generations of certs and be done with it?
My feeling is if I'm this close, I'll go ahead and finish. However, I'd like some feedback on the impact an MCDBA has on finding and securing a new position.

DBAhawk: If you pick up the MCDBA, you'll be able to take an upgrade exam for MCITP: DBA (70-447) instead of the DBA tests (70-443, 70-444), and you will have certifications in both 2000 and 2005.
In the market I'm in, MCDBA is a basic requirement for most decent SQL Server jobs.
Now, for the others asking, if you haven't taken any of the four tests you need for 2000, I'd advise moving forward on the 2005 certs. They are easier if you've passed the 2000 certs (Most of the info remains from 2000 to 2005, plus the addition of a *lot* of new stuff), but since certifications are usually pursued as a career improvement, then why not aim high and shoot for the current version?
