Trying to work out which microsoft certification to go for . Currently Im a dba with 7 years odd experience, mainly in SQL 2000 but starting to use sql2005 as well
I've trawled through the forums, checked the ms websites but can some one help me as to the differences between the various flavours of microsoft certification and perhaps some advice as to which flavour to go for
As my understanding goes there are three options
mscdba
mscts sql sql2005
MCITP: Database Administrator
As I understand it the mcitp are the new versions of mscdba and one has to start with the technology specialist and then move to the technology pro ?
Sorry if this is repeated elsewhere
any advice gratefully recieved

the MCITP:database admin is sort of a replacement for the old mcdba on 2000. i would advise you to do the mcitpB admin. the mcts:sql 2005 is part of the mcitp:db admin, and you do not necessarily need to be an mcts: sql 2005. i.e. you can sit for the 3 exams in any order.

so if I understand correctly I can sit
70-443 (is there a difference between the "pro" & "ts" )
70-444
70-431
In any order I choose ,,, also I could just take 70-443 and be a mcts and then take the other two to become the mcitp ?
many thanks

Apologies I really should learn to type on occasion , I of course meant
70-431 to be a ts
and then add on
70-443
70-444
for the full blown pro

thank you for all your help

Yes if you have 2000 MCDBA then you can go for 70-431 for MCTS and 70-447 for MCITP direct upgrade.
