In MS2000 enterprise manager, under Management there is an SQL server Agent that IF you click on properties, it has a radio button for THIS ACCOUNT that lists our domain name\user name and the password. On the same machine, if you go to the control panel>administration tools>Services there is a SQLSERVERAGENT that runs that also has a domain name/user name and password. In our case, the user name and password name listed in the SQLSERVERAGENT is different than the SQL Server Agent in enterprise manager. Since the one in enterprise managment was correct, I changed the one in the control panel>administration tools>Services to also be the right one. Then I got a message that says I have to stop services and start them before it takes affect. I haven't done this yet. Since I'm new at this DB management stuff, can anyone tell me what each is for and what would be the issues related to each? All my jobs have been running fine, with the exception of my Transaction log backup, which hasn't ran since 2007 and under Next Run Date says (date and time are not available). The job is enabled and category is listed as Database management. Could this be because the services didn't have the right userid/password? Can anyone explain to me the purpose of each SQL Server Agent and why they listed are in two places and can have two different userID/passwords?

The job will run only if both Job & its schedules are enabled. Check your job's scheduled.

You're right. Although the job is enabled, the schedule is not. I'm new in the DBA role and didn't realize there were TWO enable buttons. I appreciate your response. thank you very much.
