The latest security patch for SQL Server detailed in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941203 and was released on the 8th changes the version number of SQL to 3233 if you have sp2 installed but does anyone know if it also applies all the hotfixes that came before this as it doesn't state in the article, if it does are there any known issues with these hotfixes, if it doesn't, what happens if you have to apply a previous hotfix?
Thanks

According to the Security Bulletin itself, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS08-040.mspx, it is cumulative.

Thanks
This update is a recommended one, does this mean that Microsoft have fully tested all of the previous hotfixes?
Are there any known issues with the previous hotfixes?
Shouldn't they be calling this SP3 if it's recommended?:D

Your best bet is to query Microsoft directly on these. Because it's related to a security update, there shouldn't be a charge to do so. Alternately, you could search the Microsoft KB for the various hotfixes you are potentially worried about to see if there are any known issues and if they apply to you.

Does anyone know what the terminology GDR and QFE means in the bulletin ?
It mentions SQL2000 GDR , SQL2000 QFE, SQL2005 GDR , SQL2005 QFE.
Am I having a weak moment, or isn't this explained at MS ? :ermm::blink:
