MS02-061 Install problem

    When we try to install this hotfix, we get an error saying that some files are locked. It prevents the install. We tried rebooting and still get the error.

    Has anyone ran in to this problem? If so, how do we get around it?

    I remembered there is a log file that will tell you which files are being locked. Try shutdown all SQL Server instances before apply it.

    You would need to Shutdown the SQL Server, Agent and DTC. Also use srvmgr \\servername from command prompt, to check if any is using any files from this server.
