I heard a rumor that MS Word can open XML docs to a cetain degree.
Can anyone confirm this? If so how??
Thanks

With 2000/XP see the following links the first pertains to HTML XML references and the download http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnoffxml/html/ofxml2k.asp?frame=true the next is an article HOWTO: Automate Word to Perform a Client-Side Mail Merge Using XML from SQL Server (Q285176) http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q285176 which has a statement that Word 2000 cannot use XML as a data source for Mail Merge so may apply for any other datasource items.
And then there is the article BETA-HOWTO: Use XML Web Service by Using ASP .NET from an Office VBA Macro in Word or Excel (Q307033) http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q307033. Not 100% sure about XML as a datasource for XP maybe the same as 2000 (looking for my copy now to install on my other machine I just wiped).

Oh and if you are just wanting to open an XML to view raw then just open as text as that is all the raw XML actually is, the format is what makes it XML.
