MS SQL Server vs MySQL Database

  • I work for a small company that just released its first iPhone app. The company was founded for that purpose: to develop iPhone apps. It looks like this app is going to be a big hit, and our customer base is very likely to grow exponentially. Our database is currently MySQL, but I suspect this may fall short when the time comes to support tens of thousands of users hitting it many hundreds of thousands of times a day. I have done extensive work with SQL Server, and would like to convince the powers that be to make the switch to SQL Server. Can somebody please point me to statistics, ROI, capability surveys etc to help me make the argument? I want to present something stronger than "I just know that SQL Server can do this much better than MySQL can."

    Thanks,

You may want to start by checking... http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/compare-mysql.aspx then take a look at http://www.tometasoftware.com/mysql_vs_sqlserver.asp

    Hope this helps.
