Hi,
I have moved all the system database files for a new SQL 2005 Standard Edition server from the default installation location to another Disk, with no problems. This server also has reporting services and I also want to move the ReportServer.mdf and ReportServer_log.ldf (and the ReportServerTempDB files) to the other disk.
Does anyone know if there is a proper procedure to move these files? Can I simply Detach / Attach or will this upset reporting services?
Thanks.

I've moved my reporting services databases by detaching/attaching without problems. Naturally, whilst you're moving the files reporting services won't be able to connect to the database and it won't work but after attaching everything's back to normal.

Hi thanks for that 🙂
I have successfully detached and attached ... not having setup Reporting Services yet do I need to 'tell' reporting services about the new database locations?
Assuming that this will be obvious when setting it up?

Hi Lee,
You won't need to give reporting services the new location, just the database name on the server.

Great stuff - thanks for your quick replies

Hi Karl,
So I am doing basically the same thing. We have reporting services set up on one server and we are going to be moving it to another server, same versions of all the software. I just want to make sure I understand correctly based on the previous posts; that once we move and reset up Reporting Services on the new server, the already deployed reports will work and we won't have to redeploy all of the reports we have out and running?
Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a long time since I've done this but if I remember correctly that's about right.
