Hi,
I've been testing our recovery options for Reporting Services just in case.
Using KB 842425 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842425) I should be able to restore the databases, restore the keys and that's about it.
However: I get this error in the Windows Application Log:
"Reporting Services components from different editions cannot be used together."
In the web browser. I get this:
"This edition of Reporting Services does not support web farm deployment. (rsInvalidRSEditionConfiguration)This edition of Reporting Services does not support web farm deployment. (rsInvalidRSEditionConfiguration)"
We're using Standard Edition but it looks like RS suddenly thinks I'm trying to set up a web farm...
Any ideas...?

I don't have an answer but I thought you might want to know that I followed the same instructions and had the exact same problem!
It is good to know that the problem is not specific to my environment.

That's kinda reassuring, thanks.
At least it aint me...
What I forgot was the original server was SQL Standard, but the new server is Enterprise (temporarily, it's due to be decommissioned soon and is used for testing only).
What editions do you use?

Same here. Old one was standard and new one is Enterprise.
After a few tries I reinstalled a new Reporting Services and asked the developers to redeploy their reports. On a positive note, it forced the developers to clean up the unused reports.

Note The solutions in this article do not account for problems that will occur if you are restoring a standard edition report server. The problem is that the row for the old instance will still be in the database after you follow the instructions. Standard edition will not start because it will think that the source computer and the destination computer have joined a Web farm.
To resolve this problem, manually run Delete from keys where client > -1 before you apply a backup key. Manually run Delete from keys where client > -1 only for Standard edition. If you have a Web farm, you must disable all the other nodes in the Web farm that are presumably still working
