I restored a replicating db from a Sql 2000 server to a Sql 2005 server.
When it's time to take this db to production, I will restore the existing db from the Sql 2000 server to the Sql 2005 server again.
I created the Distributor & the publications (because they would not have existed on the new server just by my restoring the replicating db, right?).
Will I be able to use my existing subscriber on the replicated server when I go live, or delete the existing subscribers (thinking of cleaning clutter) or will I have to create new subscribers?
Thanx!

Another question.....If I am able to use the existing subscriptions on the other server, will there be any point to my doing a Snapshot/Reinitialize?

1.When you restore on a different server all replication settings are gone!
You will have to setup replication from scratch
2. Be careful moving DBs because when you restore in 2005 a 2000 db the internal structures get "upgraded" and then it is not possible to restore it back again in 2000!

Thanx for the answer....
What if I restore the db now, setup the publications, script them and then after the next restore run the publication scripts
Can I use existing subscriptions on another Sql2005 server?

You can't use existsing subscriptions because the ids would not match on distribution DB.
When you addsubscription to a publication many links happen on the distribution DB.

Ok thanx everyone. I'll run my scripts to setup publishers & recreate my subscriptions.
Appreciate the help.

Assuming you're talking about transactional replication. If so and you are 100% certain that no data will change while you're moving to the new server than you can resubscribe without resynchronizing. If your published articles are large that will save you the time\trouble of having to take and apply a snapshot.
